After 23 years away, Desiree returns home to Alabama to repair her estranged relationship with her old-school father, Harry. Together, they must process their new reality as father and daughter.

In an effort to make her childhood home more livable, a determined Desiree throws a yard sale to get rid of Harry’s unnecessary clutter. Meanwhile, Louis keeps Harry busy with a game-day feast and the two end up bonding over more than just football.

When Opal is suspended, Desiree decides to take the gang to a theme park for a surprise instead of punishment. There, Mack must be a father to help Opal, as Harry and Desiree work through their complex parent-child dynamics.

Desiree’s decision to attend church is met with mixed reactions from family and friends. Meanwhile, the closed-minded pastor makes Desiree feel unwelcome. Mack and Opal launch a Sunday car wash for heathens.

A father-daughter driving lesson takes a turn when Harry has a health emergency, leaving them to grapple with what his aging means for both of them. Mack attends a Dungeons and Dragons night at Miguel’s, and is caught “cheating” by Harry.

Ella and the rest of the neighborhood navigate an Election Day from hell. Harry and Miguel battle amid the chaos at the polls. Meanwhile, Desiree and Mack keep an eye on the car wash—and each other.

Desiree enjoys her “first night out” as she and Louis let loose during a wild, much-needed Mardi Gras adventure. Overly concerned, Harry races to track down his daughter, with a free-spirited Ella in tow.

Desiree embarks on a surprising quest for a second baptism to remove her "dead name" from the church’s records. Mack pursues a new love interest. Louis spirals when his secret boyfriend, James, shows up unannounced.
