After the unexpected break-up of his "owners" Dan and Dana (Mike Mitchell and Aubrey Plaza), neurotic housecat Kevin (Jason Schwartzman) moves into a local pet rescue in Queens where he meets other "independent" cats who can help him figure out what he wants out of life.

After being named "Animal of the Month," Kevin struggles to fill out his "adoption profile" on the Furrever Friends website.

A heat wave leads Armando to seek refuge with a wealthy woman in the Hamptons (voiced by MARIA BAMFORD). Kevin, avoiding offers of help from Dan and Dana, begs Armando to bring him along.

Kevin and Judy try to be mentors to the out-of-control new kittens who flood the rescue. Armando is coaxed into returning to the theater as the director of an all-horse production of a beloved American musical.

A new strain of Kennel Cough forces Kevin and the rest of animals into quarantine. They turn on each other as mob mentality causes an obsession over identifying "Patient Zero.

Kevin and the other animals take a heavy duty sedative to cope with the horrors of the Fourth of July in Queens. Kevin finds himself re-evaluating his decision to reject Dana and live on his own.

When the gang attends a pet adoption ceremony in Provincetown, Kevin finds himself competing with a collie for Franny's attention. Bear helps Armando face his past. Cupcake is concerned when Judy develops a crush on another sickly kitten.

Kevin impulsively tells Franny that he wants to take their relationship to the next level. An unexpected visit by an important figure from his past (guest star Cary Elwes) forces Armando to consider his behavior patterns in relationships.
